A fantastic week away

We are back from our holiday in Devon, the whole week seemed to fly by too quickly and now I want another holiday (yes, I am being greedy). It was so nice to just be able to relax, not having to stick to a routine or watch the time, we just went out when we wanted and came home when we were tired we had a fantastic week filled with fun and so much laughter it made my belly hurt!!

On our first day there we went to Kents Caverns, which are underground caves, not for anyone who doesn't like the dark or enclosed spaces (that would be me then - ha ha). The kids absolutely loved it and had a great time. Lauren did look a bit worried when the tour guide mentioned bears, but I assured her that he was talking about thousands of years ago and not now (I made sure I walked a bit faster after the mention on flesh eating animals!!). We also went to a Woodland park, which has animals and rides for the children, it was such a fun day. There is a lake there which you can pedal boats around. Lauren and I shared a boat, but her legs were too short to reach the pedals, which meant that I had to pedal the boat around the lake 300 times on my own. This resulted in me walking like I had been riding a horse for the rest of the day and not being able to get out of bed the next morning!!(really must go back to my exercise regime).

We also visited Dartmoor and were very naughty by having the odd cream tea here and there (I cannot even add up the calories in a cream tea - anyway it doesn't count when you are on holiday!). Devon is absolutely gorgeous and we just could not fit all we wanted to do into the week, so a second visit later in the year may be needed!

Unfortunately, now we are home, I have had to unpack (I hate that bit more than the packing - ha ha). From the look of the washing bin, I will spend the next week washing and ironing (punishment for a week away!!).

I have already been on the internet looking for the next place to visit, but it will have to wait until later in the year - must save some more pennies first!!!

Hi Amanda, the washing machine is about to blow up - it has been on all day (dreading the electric bill - ha ha). The bit that I am not looking forward to is the ironing!!!

Hi Dani,
Hope that I can answer your questions -
Crisps are potato chips (I hope!!!)
Prawn cocktail crisps are potato chips that taste of prawn - I have never eaten shrimps so don't know if they taste the same!!!???? Basically thay are prawn flavour!
A childminder is sort of the same as a nanny/nursery nurse, I am qualified in childcare and am registered with the local authority etc, but I care for the children in my own home.
I was a Police Officer for 10 years, during that time I started by walking the beat, then drove an response vehicle. I also did attachments to the traffic division and spent some time doing admin etc, but mostly I was out on duty at the not very nice end of life!!!!
A toffee crisp is a chocolate bar, that has rice crispies in the middle, surrounded by toffee and then dipped in chocolate - I have a slight addiction to them ha ha.
Your recipe for toffee dipped in chocolate and almonds sounds delicious - please send it and I will give it a try...
Thank you for asking - hope I have not confused you even more!!!
We did have a great week, but back to the hum drum of normal life now.

Hello again Dani, just to answer the question from the 100 things post - I was born in Singapore, my dad served out there in the british army. I moved to Germany when I was about 18 months old (again due to my Dads forces comittments), when I was 18 we moved back to England and I have been here ever since, although I have lived in various places throughout the UK X
