Barnaby Bear

It was Laurens turn today to bring home the school bear, who is called Barnaby. The children in Laurens class all take it in turns to take the bear home each night, over the weekend or during the school holidays. Barnaby is a well travelled bear, he came with us to Wales when we went to visit my Mum and he has also been abroad on holiday ~ going to America last year with one of the children to Disney land.....

Barnaby has also got lots of presents which the children have given her (apparently it is a girl ~ according to lauren!!!!), when Lauren had Barnaby at Christmas we gave the bear some tinsel from the tree to wear and a festive bauble!!

When the children have had Barnaby to visit, they have to write a short piece in a diary, telling the rest of the class what they did when Barnaby stayed and include photographs.

Lauren loves having Barnaby and always writes about 5 pages in the book lol!!

How cute is that!
And a great way to get them to practice their writing skills and have fun while doing so. The best way to learn!
Cute photos!

Hi Dani,
Yes, the poor bear was subjected to a tea party, during which Lauren serenaded it with her favourite High School Musical songs (she has a HSM microphone, that plays the tunes and you sing the words along to it....some nice person bought it for her Christmas!!). Then the bear had to sit and watch a display of Laurens 'award winning' ballet dancing (ha ha) and finally she has taken it to bed, and when I last checked, the poor bear was having to cope with her loud snoring lol!!!
Thanks for the instructions on linking etc, will give that a go tomorrow ~ and if I can't work it out ~ will just miss out the linking bit!!!!
have a nice evening.
Love and hugs,
Tabitha XX

Hi Amanda,
It is a great idea, and the kids write all sorts of things in the diary, some of the entries are hilarious!!!! You will notice from the photos that Lauren is wearing her tap dancing gold medal ~ she won't take the darn thing off ~ I had to convince her to take it off for the bath!!!!!
Love to you and your lovely family,

Hi Tabitha

I was also thinking what Dani was (if Barnaby was invited to a tea party and I see from your comment he was - lucky thing).

Barnaby sounds like a well travelled bear, one that is very loved and showered with gifts.

What a great idea to have his carers write up a diary entry of his adventures, photos and all.

Good on Lauren for documenting what must have been a very comprehensive account of her time with Barnaby.

In my daughter's class last year there was also a class bear called "Bloempje" (which actually means "Little Flower"). Every weekend one child was allowed to bring her home.

I ended up making a little storybook about Bloempje's stay with us, featuring pictures of both of them. And yes, also Bloempje just had to have some tea. Apple flavour :)

Hi e&t
Yes, Barnaby is a very well travelled bear ~ she sends postcards when she goes on holiday!!
She is so well loved that there is not alot of stuffing left in her (ha ha).
Lauren loves having her and is always so excited when she is picked to bring Barnaby home.

Hello Tania,
What a lovely name for a teddy 'little flower' ~ I love it!!
The story book you made sounds great, and apple tea sounds delicious, I will have to try that.
