TWINKLE TWINKLE

If I could give you the stars, I'd gather them inside my heart,
I'd wrap them in love and brighten your day with starlight ..

NEVER FORGET

Today is Rememberance or Armistice day ~ on this day, 11th November at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month of 1918 ~ hostilities of World War 1 were officially ended ~ with the Armistice being signed.

This year marks the 90th Anniversary of the end of World War 1. Here ~ today at 11am we will be holding a 2 minute silence in rememberance of all those men who lost their lives ~ fighting for the freedom that we enjoy every day.

IN FLANDERS FIELD

In Flanders fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing fly,
Scarce heard amidst the guns below.

We are the dead,
Short days ago ~ we lived
felt dawn ~ saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie in Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe,
To you from failing hands we throw the torch,
be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep ~
though poppies grow in Flanders fields.

Lt Col John McCrae.

That rhyme brings tears to my eyes. I was working today and was unable to observe the 2 min silence. But the kids did the 2 min silence at school.
God Bless all the men and ladies that have given up so much for our freedom.
love,

We celebrate it too here in Belgium (since we were literally 'in the middle' of it). Hence the closed post office.

Why is it that the poppy is used as a symbol to remember this day?

Love and hugs,
Tania

Tabitha,
Beautiful post. I gladens my heart to see that so many make time to commemerate this very special Rememberance day. We must NEVER forget the fallen and what they went through in the trenches and in their battles. So many very brave men and women loosing their lives and never having the chance to go old and have a full life.
LEST WE FORGET.
