Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday ~ also known as pancake day. Shrove Tuesday is the day preceeding the first day of Lent (the Christian season of fasting and prayer ). Pancake eating is associated with Shrove Tuesday as originally the making of pancakes used up ingredients such as eggs and fat, which are traditionally restricted during Lent.
Today is Ash wednesday ~ the first day of Lent. People usually give something up for Lent, I usually give up chocolate ~ but as I haven't eaten any for almost a year now ~ I won't be giving up anything ha ha !!!!!
Lauren wanted to make pancakes ~ so with a little help from me ~ she managed to rustle up some great pancakes ~ I don't think that they are half bad for a first attempt. (The picture doesn't do them any justice ~ I promise!! There were 8 of them all together and Dan and Lauren finished the lot between them!).
Well, all I can say is that I would thoroughly recommend this DVD ~ it is simple (you just have to walk) ~ and I certainly felt like I had done something when I woke up this morning!
I have missed the power walking ~ and although the DVD is not quite the same as walking through the country side breathing in the fresh air and taking in the scenery ~ for the cold damp months like these ~ it will be a welcome substitute!!
I had the afternoon off work today ~ I finished at lunch time and then I spent the rest of the time until I collected my two from school ~ just tidying up and sorting out the washing and having a general clear up. I did sit and read a magazine and have a coffee ~ it was nice to relax a bit!!
I had my weigh in tonight and I am pleased to report another pound lost ~ total lost now is 5 stone and 8 pounds (78 pounds). I am going to try and lose a little bit more ~ but the end is in sight!! (YAY!!).

Your children are so well rounded; no wonder you're so proud of them. Good job on the weight loss, Tabitha; give yourself a HIGH FIVE from me!!! :)
I forgot it was pancake day!
Oh, well, me and the kids can make some at the weekend!
I love pancakes and the ones Dan and Lauren made look good ~ but i'll have mine with just a little Maple Syrup, please!
I will have to look out for that DVD and try it out.
And i'm just like you ~ i have already given up both chocolate and crisps!! LOL!!
Hope Lauren does well with all her dancing exams ~ i know she will!
Hope you enjoyed Desperate Housewives :-D
Love,
Amanda x
holy hell you have lost 78 pounds!!!!! girl what is your secret?
Tabitha,
I better call back the hunky fireman I sent to your rescue! Should've checked your blog earlier. Oh well, you'll just have to suffer I guess. :-)
I hope Daniel has an amazing time in France. How cool is that that he gets to go!
Looking forward to seeing Lauren's dance pictures.
I can't decide what I should give up for Lent. I know I'm a day behind and we didn't eat meat yesterday because it was Ash Wednesday but someone mentioned I should give up Facebook or blogging. Nah, I'll have to think of something else!
Much love from NJ,
Sue

Thanks Sally ~ I am very proud of them ~ thanks for the high 5!!

Hi Amanda ~
Enjoy your pancakes at the weekend ~ there was no way that Lauren was going to let me 'NOT' make pancakes with her ~ so I didn't really have a choice ha ha!
Desperate housewives was great ~ I am totally addicted ~ have been from the start!

Hi Shannon,
There is no real secret to it ~ I have cut back drastically on what I eat (compared to before). I don't snack between meals and I don't eat bread anymore. I have also taken up exercising too!
I began at the start of May last year ~ so that hasn't taken too long!!
I got to the point where I was just going up through the clothes sizes and it just got to me ~ so I decided to diet ~ and that is that ha ha !!
Take care ~ love and hugs XXX

Hi Sue ~
I should have kept quiet about not needing the fire fighters......wonder how long it would have taken them to get here from the States!!
Daniel is very excited about France, the whole of his class is going as part of their world war 1 and 2 theme this term ~ he is very lucky!!
I will get some pictures of lauren prior to the ballet exam on Saturday and then do a post!
Love and hugs XXX
