For some reason ~ totally unknown to me ~ I think that the whole of the South coast decided to be in the Barbers and hairdressers today ~ as when I took Dan this morning ~ we stood in the barbers for at least an hour ~ waiting for Dans turn ........it was packed ~
We then went along to the local Supercuts hairdressers ~ who are very reasonably priced (as Lauren only needed a trim...) ~ but work on a first come ~ first served basis.~no appointments needed........WELL ~ yet again it was totally and utterly packed ~ would you believe that we waited at least an hour and a half for Laurens turn !! Was today national haircut day??? because no one told me ha ha ha !!!
I cannot believe that I spent about 3 hours of my day sat in hair cutting establishments........it was soooooooo boring ~ I would have rather watched paint dry!!!!!!!!!! Anyway ~ at least that is over and done with for at least another 6 weeks or so!!
Here are my little stars with their new haircuts ~ Laurens doesn't look that different ~ as she only had the ends taken off and the front cut in to her face! My little Danny Boy ~ sporting his new shorter cut!! He is looking a bit tired here ~ he had a late night last night ~ he isn't good with late nights ha ha ha !! (a bit like his mother!!)
All snipped and looking alot smarter ~ my little stars!!
Well ~ after the mammoth hair cutting saga ~ we also had to quickly whiz around the town and get a few bits ~ Lauren has been invited to a tea party next week ~ for one of her school friends birthdays ~ so we had to get a present, card and wrapping paper. Then we had to get a new kettle ~ as the old one finally went to kettle heaven today.......it was very old, and had a very good life.........but went bang this morning and blew the fuse box!!! I am now the proud owner of a lovely new glass kettle ~ with a white flower design down the side ~ which illuminates when it boils....all very high tech (ha ha ~ my old kettle was soooooo old ~ I think it was on the ark ha ha !!).
In my last post ~ I mentioned about the milk bottles being all ready for the milkman ~ and Christy over at Cakerwakers asked about this........well, it is quite simple really ~ the milkman comes (currently 2 times a week) ~ at about 5 am and leaves 4 pints of milk on the doorstep, he then collects the empty bottles and takes them away ~ it is great ~ fresh milk straight from the local farm ~ sitting on my doorstep when I open the door ~ I love it!!! The amount of milk that my 2 kids go through ~ it is so much easier ~ as I would forever be at the shops buying it!! Not sure if my blog friends in the US and OZ etc have the same thing ~ you will have to let me know!!
We have had a warning of colder weather here over the next few days ~ possibly snow ~ freezing temperatures and icy driving conditions ~ oh joy!! Just when we were having some nicer warmer weather and I had put the gloves and scarfs back in the winter drawer ~ back comes the cold.......it has been a funny old few months here in the UK where the weather is concerned ~ I think that is why we have all been ill ~ with being cold one week ~ then warm the next.......and then cold yet again!! Roll on summer!!!!!! (all one day of it ha ha !!!!).
Well, best be off ~ am watching the film Troy on TV ~ oh Brad (Pitt) ~ you are looking mighty fine with your flowing locks and ripling muscles..........swoon...........not too sure about the skirt though!!!!!!! (tee hee!!) XXXXX

HA ha Donna ~ I take it that means you don't have the milkman where you are!!!!
I am much better thanks ~ and still awake at 10.30pm ~ that is a miracle ha ha !!
Love and hugs Tab XXX
in the us, there used to be milk men that did just what yours does... however, that was over 40 years ago, as they've not done it since i was born. when i was a little girl milk did come in glass bottles though from the grocery stores:)
lauren and dan look great... too bad about the wait, though!!! i bet there were many who were out today trying to get everything accomplished before the wintry weather arrives. people do that here, too.
take care, t:)

Hi Tabitha!
Lauren and Dan's hair cut looks great!! So funny that you thought it was national hair cut day because I wanted to get the boys' hair cut but the day got away from me. I wonder if it was busy by me too.
As for your question as to whether we have milk delivery. The answer is uh no. Not in northern NJ anyway. I'm always at the store getting a gallon of milk. How convenient that you have that service.
Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
Much love from NJ,
Sue

As a hairdresser I used to hate the return to School time a week prior asnd two weeks after as every kid from far and wide came for cuts....
We here in OZ don't have the milky as such.
But some towns do offer it.
I know where we lived in the city we did!
They were called Daily Bread....And delivered milk ,bread and juice to the door....Fantastic and all leftin a Cool bag.
It always seemed extra exciting as opposed to a trip to the supermarket
Danny Boy and Lauren Look absolutly stunning with their ner hair cuts. Don't you just hate wasting hours at the hairdresser on one of your few days off? Weel at least that is out of the way. Tea party for a birthday sounds just so dainty and Lauren will love it I'am sure. In some parts of Brisbane the milk man still delivers milk and take away the used bottles. It was like that all over in the past and the baker would also deliver freshly baked bread and creambuns when I was young er?? By golly, I can just remember (or maybe i was told) when we did not have fridges and the ice man would deliver ice every day for the ice chest.
better go now after my epic comment.
Love and hugs
You're way more patient than I, but all the hair cuts look great!
The haircuts look great but i'm sorry you had to wait for so long ~ not easy to do with bored childre and bored Mummys!
We don't go through so much milk anymore so we no longer bother with the milk man. It's a running joke though that he delivers babies to our house ~ nice eh??!!
Hope you are having a nice weekend.
love,
Amanda x
ROFLMAO! When I first read your heading i thought it really WAS National Haircut Day! LOLOLOLOL! I am so stupid!!!!
Regarding the milk - when I was little we had 'milkmen' who delivered milk. I remember my nanna having her milk bottles on the porch. But that died out a long time ago.
I think it's great that you can still get 'fresh' milk! COOL!!!
We had milk delivery in Seattle, where I grew up. He also brought juice, eggs and ice cream. He was such a fixture in our lives that he would actually come inside and put it all away in our fridge and freezer. I think about that now and it all seems so weird. I can't think of a single scenario, where I would allow someone, (no matter how long I had done business with him) to freely enter my house and start putting milk into my refrigerator. Well, maybe if the milk was free. Maybe.
And you know, maybe it WAS National Haircut Day. Yesterday, I went and got my hair cut. I almost went on Friday, but I waited until Saturday. I guess I must have somehow known to have it done on Saturday. Hmm, do you suppose that every Salon on Earth had been sending out subliminal messages, telling everyone to get their hair cut on that day?
Dan and Lauren look really nice, I'm in awe that you were willing to wait that long. I'm afraid if it was me, I would have gone home with two shaggy haired children.
The wee ones look adorable, but then they always do!! We used to have milk delivery back in the dark ages. :)
One of the memories I have of visiting my grandmother was the "rolling store". It was quite exciting as they carried most everything from material, canned goods, etc. Live chickens even!! Yeah, I'm old. hahahha
Have a great week!!
