Start......as I mean to go on!!

Here is my little 'Nest Egg' which I bought today!

Although I decided that I would not be making any New Years Resolutions this year ~ I had already made a promise to myself that I would try and save some money ~ no matter how small ~ so that it could be used for treats for the children ~ like days out and visits to the cinema!!
Even if I only saved a pound a week ~ that would mean there would be £52 in there by Christmas 2009 ~ enough for a nice treat somewhere (PLEASE NOTE ~ this treat will not involve LAPLAND ha ha !!!!!).
I thought that I would put any silver change that I have in here and the odd pound coin or two ~ even a few £2 coins ~ which I totally hate having in my purse ~ they are the worst money invention EVER ha ha !! None of the ticket machines in the carparks seem to take them and I always get given them in change!!! (There you go ~ that is my first moan of 2009~ that didn't take long ha ha !!!).
So there you have it ~ my little Nest Egg has officially started today ~ hopefully it will be full of nice shiny coins very soon ~ so we can go on our first little treat!! I will keep you posted as to the eggs progress LOL!!
Hope your New Year is off to a good start ~ anyone broken their New Years Resolutions yet??
XXX
PS ~ The egg has 12 pence in it so far.....so that is a good start ~ Tee Hee!!!!! xxx

Charity begins at home and it's just amazing how all the pennies add up to many pounds!
We keep a large jar in which we empty all of our spare change.
But, if you really don't like the £2 coins ~ sens them my way LOL!
hugs,
Amanda x
(i have put a card in the post for Daniel ~ i know it's a bit late, but i wasn't sure if you would be at home or at your Mum's.)

What a sweet idea. Your children are lucky to have a mom who saves money just to do things with them.
I only have the most basic ideas about your money, but I think we have the same problem. Several times the government has tried to introduce the one dollar coin. They are a pain in the neck. They are almost the size of our quarters, which are the highest valued coin we normally have, but still only one fourth of a dollar. So when I'm inattentive or in a hurry I have unknowingly used them instead of my quarters. Nothing like paying 5 dollars for something that's actually priced at 3.50.

I really should so that as well.

but nope, I am an amazon addict, so, I will most likely be buying used books on that this year :D

haha,

but I'm happy you've set a goal for 2009!

All big things start out little, so 12 pence isn't that bad, ha?!

I hope you have a light purse and a full nest egg by the end of the year ;)

Happy belated New Year!!!!

Great idea re saving! It adds up soooo fast ~ I went through a stage of emptying my change into a money box at the end of every day (to take Kara to the show!!) and it was amazing how much there was withing a short time.
