Night Out Tonight!!!!

Tonight is THE night ~ I am going on a night out (doesn't happen very often ~ so I am very excited tee hee!!!).

I have this morning free ~ no childminding children until 12 noon ~ so I have been making the most of this morning ~ nails are painted (I even did my toe nails ~ no one will see them ~ but what the heck!!!). I have washed my hair ~ will get to work with the hair straighteners a bit later!! My outfit is all ready and I have narrowed it down to three possible pairs of shoes ~ 2 of which are probably NOT a good idea ~ they have a high heel ~ which could spell disaster after a few glasses of wine! The other pair are still high ~ but not 'break your ankle' high ha ha !!!

The babysitter is booked for 7pm and my friend June is picking me up at 7.15pm ~ we have to make a few stops along the way to collect the rest of the group ~ then we are off out for a festive christmas meal and a few drinks. I am sooooo looking forward to it ~ a night off from the diet ~ a night off from being a mummy ~ a night to kick back and have fun (and probably regret it saturday morning tee hee!!), just a night to enjoy with my friends ~ I think at last count there are now 8 of us!!).

I will try and get one of my darling children to take a half decent picture of me all ready and dressed to go ~ I cannot guarantee how good it will be ~ but hopefully you will get the general idea!! This is also the night that I have been dieting towards ~ last year when we went out ~ I was almost 5 stone heavier and wearing clothes 5 sizes bigger ~ I had wanted to be in a size 10 trousers for tonight ~ but although when I tried them on, they went on and almost did up (ha ha ) ~ I am not quite there ~ so size 12 it is!! I am happy with that and as I said ~ it is along way from where I was this time last year.......infact my whole life is. I am happier and more settled than last year ~ my D~I~V~O~R~C~E is all done and dusted and that whole part of my life is behind me and I now have my sights set firmly on the future!!

The kids are soooooo disappointed.......

We didn't get the predicted snow here in the South of England ~ my two little stars sat and watched the weather report last night with great anticipation ~ while the weather man predicted snow here and here and there ~ there was great excitement and Lauren had already planned her WINTER look for school (bless her ~ that's my girl!!), the High School Musical hat, scarf and gloves set was all laid out ~ together with winter boots and her most cosy coat ~ give her praise where praise is due ~ my girl sure is a forward planner (tee hee ~ shame her mother isn't!!!!!!!).

Daniel was making plans for a snow ball fight at school and discussing whether we would get snowed in ~ meaning of course the prospect of NO SCHOOL ~ which seemed to bring a rather large smile to his face!!!

I was ready for the snow too ~ I had my camera all ready for pictures ~ so that I could blog about it all (well ~ that is as ready as I could get!!!!).

When we drove back from my weigh in last night (where I lost NOTHING ~ stayed the same again ~ ah well ~ onwards I go!!), it was so cold and the car temperature was showing as -2.5 degrees ~ and it certainly felt like snow could be on its way ~ the roads were awful ~ I could feel the car slipping ~ but thankfully as we came closer to home I saw the good old orange flashing lights of the gritters ~ heading out to grit the roads ~ so that made the children even more sure that snow was coming (in their minds ~ gritters = SNOW!!!!).

We all went to bed last night ~ wrapped in about 300 layers of bed clothes ~ well ok ~ maybe I have exagerated a small amount there (tee hee!!). The place is quite warm here ~ but I always put the heating off over night ~ and was anticipating a cold night!!

Lauren woke this morning ~ with great excitement (you would think it was Christmas morning!!) ~ and ran in the living room and opened the curtains to................NO SNOW ~ no lovely festive white scenery ~ no snowmen and snowball fights ~ nope ~ just good old freezing cold British RAIN!!! She had the most disappointed look on her face ~ poor love!!
BUT ~ with the promise of pancakes for breakfast (yes ~ I can make a rather good pancake if I try really hard ~ tee hee), she soon perked up again!!

So, after complaining about having to defrost the car yesterday morning ~ I am now going to make a confession ~ I would have rather been defrosting the car again this morning ~ than standing around in the freezing cold rain ~ I dislike rain EVEN more (yes ~ I do like to moan about EVERYTHING!!!!!) ~ and it makes my hair go frizzy ~ which is why I am having a very bad hair day today!!

I am praying that the promised snow comes tonight maybe ~ as my hair can't cope with any more frizz and Lauren is desperate to wear her snow boots at least just once this year!! XXX

Frozen......

It is totally freezing here people ~ and I mean FREEZING!!
I cannot get warm ~ no matter how much I try ~ I have the heating on full blast and about 20 layers of clothes (not a good look believe me ~ ha ha !!).

The car was soooooo frozen this morning that I couldn't get the door open AND to add insult to injury ~ just when I thought I was getting somewhere with all the de icing malarky.....the damn de icer spray ran out!! SO ~ I had to stand and scrape the rest of the car ~ with the most rubbish scraper that I have ever had!! The man next door cheerfully came out and threw what I can only presume was warm water over his car ~ got in and drove off ~ while I was still standing there (nice man ~ tee hee!!) ~ not that I would throw water over a frozen car ~ knowing the way that my luck goes ~ the windscreen would smash into a million pieces!!!

Finally I was finished de icing and away we went ~ on the school run ~ which is always interesting! Where do all the mad people come from in the mornings when I am driving to the school? Every morning is like dicing with death ~ people pulling out and overtaking ~ the road from where we live to the school is notoriously bad for accidents ~ it is a straight road with a big dip in the middle ~ so people insist on overtaking and then suddenly realise that they have not seen the car coming the other way ~ because it was in the dip ~ which makes for some hair raising experiences ~ thank goodness I have 10 years of Police Driver training under my belt ~ I have needed it the last few days ha ha !!!!!

Finally we got to school ~ parked the car and suddenly Daniel looks at me ~ HORROR on his face ~ "Mum I have forgotten my school project and it is due in today ~ I am going to get told off " ~ and he promptly bursts in to tears (not something that my almost 11 year old boy does often ~so I knew it must be bad!!!) ~ SO ~ being the Mummy (that should be MAD MUMMY!) ~ that I am ~ I said "Don't cry darling ~ I will drop you at school and go home and get it!" ~ Which is exactly what I did .............AND diced with death a second time on the road from hell!!

The sacrafices we Mums make (tee hee!!) ~ but he was smiling when I took his project back into school ~ and that sweet smile is what makes every single day worthwhile!!! XXXX

Our 'Minimal Christmas'!!!

Well, where did the weekend go? One minute it was Saturday and I was here blogging ~ then time just flew by and here I am and it's Tuesday ~ MAD!!
We went to the cinema on Sunday afternoon and watched Madagascar 2 ~ and we loved it ~ we laughed alot and the children want to see it again (as usual!!) ~ We also managed to do a bit of Christmas shopping ~ amidst all the madness of the pre christmas crowds!!! I think that I am almost all finished ~ just the wrapping and the cards to write and then I can kick back and relax (um ~ well knowing me ~ that won't happen!!).

Yesterday I decided that we would decorate the place for Christmas ~ and our minimal look is almost done ha ha !!

I bought these christmas tree baubles for my little stars to take with us to my Mums ~ so that they can decorate the tree with them!!

Here is our little fibre optic tree ~ I tried to get it changing colour ~ but it just came out blurred ~ my photography skills are not getting any better ha ha !!

My latest purchase ~ my new Wood Wick candle ~ it is called Holiday Glow and it smells gorgeous ~ very festive!! (It is crackling away in the background at the moment!!)

Our little santa snow globe ~ when you wind it up ~ the santa spins around and the snow swirls and it plays christmas tunes ~ Lauren loved it and we HAD to buy it!!!!!

It certainly feels like Christmas here ~ it is absolutely FREEZING!! ~ and yet again they are predicting that we will have snow ~ no sign of any yet though!! I hope it doesn't get any colder ~ I was wrapped in so many layers today that I could hardly move Tee Hee!!!!!
